Problem: After a recent google chrome update, chrome has been displaying “Couldn’t load plugin” On some flash elements on certain sites:
On video sites such as reuters video, comedy central, etc… I’ve been getting the Couldn’t load plug-in error where the video box ought to be. I thought it had to do with flash after looking it up, but unlike what the solutions recommend about PPAPI and there being two flash plugins etc I only have ONE type of flash in my plugins. My browser is the most recent update, as is the flash. I don’t know what is going on and I can’t play videos. Youtube is fine.
I found a fix that worked for me guys. Try these steps and see if it works for you.
1: Close browser
2: Open My Computer and browse to your main hard drive. Normally named C:\
3: Browse to folders Users\Your Name\App Data\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\PepperFlash
4: in that PepperFlash folder, I only had one folder. Yours may be named different. Open up that single folder.
5: Inside, you will see a file named something like pepflashplayer.dll
6: Rename pepflashplayer.dll to pepflashplayerX.dll
7: Open chrome and test to see if fixes your problem.
That is what I did and it fixed it for me.
